Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
Fort Worth-Two of the Fort Worth Brahmas top players will get a head start this week on their 2004-2005 hockey season.
Left wing Chad Woollard and defenseman Adam Davis will both participate in a Dallas Stars developmental camp that will be held at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Frisco from Wednesday, September 8 through Wednesday, September 15.
Woollard and Davis have been invited to participate in the camp by the Dallas Stars hockey operations department. They will be competing against players currently in the Stars system and recent Dallas Stars draft picks. Junior Lessard, the winner of the 2004 Hobey Baker award as the top collegiate player in the U.S. and one of the Stars major off season signees, is expected to be one of the marquee names at the camp. 23 total players will be taking part in this event.
Dallas Stars coaches and staff will be conducting the camp, which will include fitness testing and training, on ice skill development sessions, and scrimmages.
Woollard and Davis both put up good numbers last season with the Brahmas. Woollard tied for the team lead in goals with 18 and finished third on the club with 38 points (18G/20A). Despite missing the season's final eleven games because of injury, Davis led all Brahmas blueliners in points with 20 (4G/16A). Both players are under contract with Fort Worth for the upcoming 2004-2005 CHL season.
Al Sims, the Brahmas second-year head coach, is excited about the opportunity with the Stars for his players.
"This camp will give Chad and Adam a chance to get noticed by the NHL, and perhaps earn an opportunity for themselves down the road. Both of these guys are skilled players who deserve a shot to play at a higher level. Our organization (the Brahmas) is committed to developing our players and helping them move up the hockey ladder. This is a good chance for Chad and Adam to do just that," Sims said.
Sims and the rest of the Brahmas will open their fourth season in the CHL and the eighth season in franchise history on October 22 in Bossier-Shreveport. The Brahmas 2004-2005 home opener will be on Saturday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Fort Worth Convention Center against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs.
