Rayz add two rookies to roster

Corpus Christi, Texas: September 7, 2004 – The Corpus Christi Rayz have signed forward, Frank Werner and defenseman, Jay Hardwick to one-year deals for the 2004-05 season, Rayz General Manager, Larry Linde announced Tuesday afternoon. Both men are American rookies and bring the total number of Rayz signed players to 15 for the offseason.

Werner, 24, is a winger who will be making his professional debut this season. The Grosse Pointe, MI native spent four seasons with Michigan Tech of the NCAA. Werner finished his collegiate career with 20 goals and 46 points. He added 58 penalty minutes. The 5'11", 185 lb. Werner played in 146 games over four years for Michigan Tech.

Hardwick, 25, played his collegiate hockey at the University of Minnesota – Deluth, finishing his four year career in 2004. The defensive minded blueliner out of Warroad, MN will also be making his professional debut with the Rayz. Hardwick is 5'11" and weighs 190 lbs. He played two years of hockey in the USHL before joining Minnesota - Deluth. In his collegiate career, Hardwick had 17 points and 71 penalty minutes. Both men will make their way to Corpus Christi and join the Rayz for training camp in the second week of October.

The Rayz will begin the 2004-05 season in Austin on October 22nd, and host the Laredo Bucks in the first ever event at the AmericanBank Center on November 5th and 7:05pm.
