Twisters Organization Ushers in Era with New Operators

(North Little Rock, AR) - The Arkansas Twisters of the arenafootball2 league will usher in the 10th anniversary season with new operators. Local businessmen Jim Smith and Jeff Everetts assumed controlling interest of the Twisters as announced by the organization on Monday.
"Having strong local businessmen like Jim Smith and Jeff Everetts assume control of the Twisters is a positive step for the af2 in that it ensures us that one of our original league members will continue to call the Little Rock area its home for years to come," said af2 President Jerry Kurz. "The Twisters have established themselves as a fixture in the community through the years thanks to a commitment to excellence both on and off the football field. We anticipate a smooth transition among the respective parties and a bright future ahead for the franchise."
Both operators became familiar with the franchise as business sponsors of the Twisters over the past few years. Smith moved to Little Rock from Dallas, Texas and established Direct Buy in Little Rock and Bentonville.
Everetts is a former Marine who spent 20 years in law enforcement. The Cabot native moved to Batesville and started Background Information Systems of America, a company that specializes in background checks.
Arkansas is one of three franchises in the league to compete in all nine previous af2 seasons. The franchise has made five playoff appearances during its previous nine seasons ('02-'03, '06-'08), including a franchise record three straight. The team has played in two National Conference Championship games, but has yet to advance to the ArenaCup.
