Lubbock Renegades News Release

North Little Rock, AR - Lubbock Renegades quarterback Robert Kent completed 27 of 39 passes for 7 touchdowns and 390 yards to lead the Renegades to their first road win in franchise history with a 51-49 win over the #4 ranked (af2 Coach's Poll) Arkansas Twisters to disappoint 5,466 at Alltel Arena Saturday night. The road win places the Renegades with a two-game winning streak and puts their record at 4-5 on the season.

The Renegades fell behind early after a pair of Devon Vinson rushing touchdowns and were down as much as 21-9. In their opening five possessions, the Renegades found the endzone only once, as John King caught a 37-yard pass from Kent. Pierre Colin's fumble recovery in the second quarter gave the Renegades momentum and they stormed back with 21 consecutive points. Touchdown receptions by Alvance Robinson and King gave the Renegades a 23-21 halftime lead, and after an Antonio Huffman interception on Arkansas' opening possession of the second half, the Renegades closed the 21-point run with King grabbing his third touchdown reception of the game.

Lubbock never looked back in the second half and stared adversity right in the face. The Renegades converted touchdowns on six consecutive possessions, with three starting within their own three yard line. Lubbock built their lead to 44-28 before the Twisters made a comeback bid. The teams traded scores before a Pierre Thomas interception led to a Kevin Williams touchdown reception from Vinson to place the Twisters within two points (51-48). Lubbock received the ensuing kickoff and was able to run out the clock to seal their first road win.

Kent's numbers in the second half were impressive, as he completed 16 of his 21 pass attempts in the half for 213 yards. The 390 passing yards were the second most by an af2 quarterback this season. Vinson, in the losing cause for the Twisters, had his best statistical performance as a starting quarterback with 264 passing yards and five touchdowns. He completed 18 passes on 39 attempts. Each team forced three turnovers, with each team grabbing a pair of interceptions and recovering a fumble.

Lubbock remains on the road next week, as they have a non-division contest against the Central Valley Coyotes in Fresno, California. They do not return home until they host Amarillo on July 23rd at City Bank Coliseum.
