Tweedt Helps Elks Dominate Corvallis in Return Home

The Bend Elks returned home Tuesday night after going 5-1 on the last road trip to defeat the Corvallis Knights 10-1 in front of 2591 fans at Vince Genna Stadium.

Starter Sam Tweedt (1-0) threw 8 complete innings dominating the Knights, allowing only 3 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 4 and walking 1 Knight. Tweeds ERA is now at 2.25 for the 2015 WCL season.

Bend Elks bats continue to be the hottest in the league. 10 of the 11 Elks to swinging the bat tonight found a way to reach base. Sam Teague had a huge night at the plate knocking 3 hits for 4 RBI's and he also scored 2 runs. Patrick Flynn continues to show power as he blasted his second home run in 2 consecutive games against the Knights.

The Elks have the best record in the WCL at 13-1 and now have a 7 game lead over the 3 place Knights. The now second place Medford Rogues, who were idle tonight, trail the Elks by 6.5 games in the South division.

Gane 2 tof the 3 game series against Corvallis is set for Wednesday night. The Elks will attempt to take the 5th straight game from the Knights. It is free kids Wednesday sponsored by Airlink, and all kids 12 and under get in free with an adult. The Airlink helicopter will land in the outfield at 5:45 for the kids to look over.
