
TV Appearance, Hero Recognition Highlights Hoops Hysteria Saturday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., January 13, 2003 â The Huntsville Flight will welcome Black Entertainment Television for its "Hoops Hysteria" tripleheader as well as recognize several individuals in its Heroes Among Us award series this Saturday at the Von Braun Center.
BET's program "Maad Sports" will focus a feature on the tripleheader which features Alabama A&M and Alabama State. The festivities begin with women's basketball action at 3:30 p.m. The Flight then take on National Basketball Development League foe North Charleston at 6 p.m. followed by the Bulldogs and Hornets men's action to complete the tripleheader.
The Flight will recognize Alabama A&M women's volleyball coach Betty K. Austin, who led the Lady Bulldogs to a SWAC championship and an appearance in the NCAA tournament with a 24-8 record; football coach Anthony Jones, who paced the Bulldogs to an 8-4 record and berth in the SWAC Championship game; John Gibson, president of Alabama A&M; and Clyde Foster, president of Prep Tech as "Heroes Among Us".
The Heroes Among Us award recognizes an individual or group who through their unique commitment and humanitarian spirit has made exceptional and lasting contributions to the local community.
"This is going to be a wonderful day to showcase not only the NBDL, but our wonderful partnership with Alabama A&M," Flight team president Kurt Luttermoser said. "The game will also give us the opportunity to recognize some outstanding citizens in our community."
In addition, the nationally-recognized Alabama A&M band will be on hand to perform throughout the day.
Individual tickets, good for all three games that day, are $20 for Lower Bowl baseline, $15 for either Lower Bowl corners or Floor Risers and $10 general admission in the Upper Bowl.
The first 1,500 Alabama A&M students will gain free admission to the tripleheader with valid student ID. Those AAMU student tickets are only available at the VBC the day of the game.
The tripleheader is presented by Verizon Wireless, Huntsville Hospital, Food World, Checkers and Woody Anderson Ford.
