Lakeland ThunderBolts News Release
ROME, Ga. - Rome spotted Lakeland seven points in the first 68 seconds, then held the ThunderBolts scoreless for the remainder of the game and the Renegades, behind quarterback Bo Bartik, rolled to a 53-7 first-round, National Indoor Football League playoff win Sunday before 1,050 in The Forum.
Bartik threw a pair of touchdown passes, running back Travis Booker added two more touchdowns but it was the Renegades' defense that caused nine stops which made the difference.
Lakeland (6-9) had two interceptions, lost three fumbles and failed to convert 4th-down plays four times for 1st downs.
The Renegades (8-7) had 212 total yards in offense but again, the defense had three quarterback sacks and a blocked kick.
The 6-foot-6 wide receiver Nick Hunter caught touchdown passes of 27 and 22 yards from Bartik.
Lakeland running back Cortland Florence, a late addition to the roster who replaced Nunnie Booker, caught a 22-yard pass from quarterback Jeremy Martin to open the game. Steve Kratz kicked the extra point and that was all the points the - Bolts could muster.
Martin was 16 of 34 for 142 yards but couldn't connect on scores to his "big-four" receivers Will Glover, Tavarius Johnson, William Andrews or Raymond Hardy. Glover led the four with five catches and 56 yards.
Florence had 11 carries for 23 yards.
