ROME, Ga. - The Rome Renegades will advance to the second round of the NIFL playoffs after a huge victory over the Lakeland Thunderbolts. With a final score of 53 to 7, Rome's postseason play is off to a great start.
The Renegades defense held the Thunderbolts to seven points with shutouts in the second, third and fourth quarters. Eugene Phillips had two sacks, and Jason Colts had five solo tackles and three assists. With an interception each, Monteous Blockson and Joe Killins were big disruptions to the Lakeland offense.
Offensively the Renegades had 77 yards rushing for four touchdowns and 144 yards receiving for two touchdowns. Bo Bartick went 14 for 27 with 2 touchdowns, one to Travis Booker and one to Nick Hunter. J.R. Revere was two for three and rushed for two touchdowns.
