Turfcats Take On The Hurricanes Twice In One Week

AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Turfcats (8-2) will travel to College Station to take on the Texas Hurricanes (1-8) for the second time this week. This will be the fourth match-up between the teams this season and the last regular season game for both teams. The Turfcats are winning the series 3-0.
The two teams faced off Tuesday night in a sloppy 36-12 win for the Turfcats. The Turfcats jumped out to a 22-0 half time lead after Keith Clay scored two touchdowns, Wallace scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion, and Nick Lewis added another two points.
The Hurricanes started the second half with a score but three possessions later Gary Cooper threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Wallace and Clay tacked on the two extra points. The Hurricanes answered right away but Clay rushed in for the last score of the night ending the game 36-12.
Both teams had problems holding onto the ball resulting in 17 turnovers collectively. Austin finished with four fumbles and three interceptions while Texas had three fumbles and seven interceptions. Neither team was able to kick due to a low ceiling in the arena so two-point conversions were the only option after a touchdown. It will be the same situation on Saturday.
Texas quarterback Michael Bishop was still away on family issues but team officials are hopeful that he will return to the team in time for Saturday's game. His presence is vital considering the Hurricanes can still clinch the last play spot with a win over the Turfcats. The Turfcats have already clinched second place in the Southern Indoor Football League giving them hosting rights for a first round playoff game and, with the win against the Hurricanes on Tuesday, the SIFL Texas Championship.
