Tulsa Talons News Release
TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa Talons of af2 will advance anther player to the Arena Football League (AFL). Offensive specialist, Robert Reed, signed a contract with the AFL's Las Vegas Gladiators as a wide receiver/defensive back Monday, November 1, 2004. Reed is the second Talons player to sign a contract with an AFL team in 2004.
Former Talon, Reed (6-2, 210, Mississippi), 3-years experience, joined the Talons in 2004. Reed started his season as a wide receiver/defensive back and ended as an offensive specialist. Reed made this transition following the injury of his teammate Mitch Allner. Allner's injury had him watching from the sidelines for the season. Reed then became a huge part of the Talons' game plans and was very successful at filling Allner's record-breaking shoes. Reed was awarded the Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player in the Semifinal Round of the af2 ArenaCup. Reed was ranked sixth in af2 for the 2004 regular season in scoring (34 TDs for 212-yards) and receptions (106 for 1,336-yards). He was an individual game high record holder in receptions recording 14 catches. He accomplished this record in the game against Wichita Stealth on June 06, 2004.
"I are very happy for Robert. He is an excellent player who has all the abilities to be successful in the next level. Although, it is unfortunate to be losing Robert, our ultimate goal in the af2 is to prepare our players for the next level. I wish him the best of luck," stated Offensive Coordinator/Player Personnel, Coach Allner.
One of our goals, in the af2, is to help our players advance to the next level and achieve their dreams. Robert Reed and Bjorn Barre have shown it can be done!
As a Talon for the regular season, Reed recorded in 16 games:
Receiving: 106 catches for 1,336 yards, 34 TDs, 40 yard long
Field Goal Returns: 6 returns for 89 yards
Interceptions: 1 interception for 0 yards
Kickoff Returns: 8 returns for 146 yards
Scoring: 34 TDs for 212 points
