Macon Knights News Release

MACON, Ga. – Three former Macon Knights signed contracts with new teams in the AFL during the month of October.

Gabe Amey, Jason Berger and Tremaine Neal will all suit up in different uniforms for their respective teams this January when the AFL season kicks off.

Gabe Amey, a wide receiver/linebacker, signed with the Nashville Kats on October 22nd. He will reunite with Tres Sullivan, who was the offensive coordinator in Macon during the 2002 season, and is now the offensive coordinator with the Kats.

Amey caught 73 passes for 964 yards and 21 touchdowns during the 2002 season with the Knights. Amey will make his return to the AFL after spending one year with the Hawaiian Islanders of af2 last season. He began the 2003 season with the Carolina Cobras (AFL) before a knee injury cut his season short.

Jason Berger, an offensive/defensive lineman, signed with the Columbus Destroyers on October 18th. Berger will look to become a regular for the Destroyers after seeing limited action with the New Orleans VooDoo last season. Berger anchored the Knights line during the 2002 and 2003 seasons.

Tremaine Neal, a wide receiver/defensive back, signed with the Philadelphia Soul on October 12th. Neal caught 10 passes for 85 yards and one touchdown while recording 16 tackles with the New Orleans VooDoo last season. During his career with the Knights (2002-2003), he caught 73 passes for 791 yards and 11 touchdowns. Defensively, he recorded 125 tackles and three interceptions.

The Macon Knights will return to action in April 2005 with eight action-packed home games. Season ticket packages are on sale now starting at just $56. For more information call the Knights ticket office at (478) 314-3000.
