Tulsa Talons News Release
TULSA, Okla. - The af2 league office has officially assigned former player, Mitch Allner, to the Tulsa Talons as the offensive coordinator/player personnel. Allner will now be looking at the game in a different aspect.
Allner, 26, joins the Talons after serving five years in the af2 as a top-ranked player. In five years, Allner played a year with Quad City Steamwheelers and Iowa Barnstormers and three years with the Tulsa Talons. Allner not only created a well-recognized name for himself, but he also set and broke records in the af2.
In the Talons' record book, the name "Allner" is frequently seen. He holds 3 records in the 2004 season game highs, six career records as a Talon, four records in a single season and two records in a single game. In the af2 record book, Allner is the All-Time af2 Leading Scorer, All-Time af2 First Team OS in 2002, Offensive Player of the Year in 2002, Week 6 Offensive Player of the Week for the League in 2002 and the National Conference All-af2 Second Team WR/LB in 2003.
Allner's transition from a player to a coach is something he has always wanted to accomplish. Allner and many others did not believe his playing years would be over so quickly. Although, a time comes in one man's life when injuries overcome your ability to play at the level one would like. With Mitch's experience in the af2 and involvement in the community, the Talons are very excited about their decision. Allner can bring more to this team than most coaches can and that is first-hand experience in the af2.
TALONS NOTES: Currently the Tulsa Talons are making decisions for their 2005 season. All changes and updates will be posted on the website. Thank you for supporting your Tulsa Talons!
