
Tullo Leads Roadrunners to Game Two Win

FORT WORTH, Texas - Aaron Tullo pitched six solid innings striking out nine batters as he led the Edinburg Roadrunners to an 11-5 victory over the Fort Worth Cats in game two of the best-of-five United League Championship series Saturday night at LaGrave Field.
Tullo (1-0) allowed five runs, but only three earned, on six hits with his nine strike outs as he took the win in his first playoff start. Edinburg now leads the best-of-five series 2-0.
The Cats (0-2) jumped out to the early lead in the bottom of the first as they scored a run without recording a hit. Chuck Caufield walked with one out in the inning and then came in to score on a throwing error that made it 1-0.
The Roadrunners (2-0) answered in the top of the second as they batted around against Cats starter Blake Nation. Felix Molina, Osiel Flores, Tim Battle and Wilmer Pino each recorded RBI in the inning taking the 4-1 lead.
In the top of the third, Stantrel Smith reached on an error and then came in to score on a double play. With two outs in the inning, Vincent Blue hit an RBI double that allowed Tim Battle to score. Pino then hit an RBI single that allowed Blue to score pushing the Edinburg lead 7-1.
Derek Marshall got the Cats another run in the bottom of the fourth win an RBI single that allowed Brandon Jones to score making it 7-2.
Edinburg added another run in the top of the sixth. Battle started the inning with a double and then Pino drove him home with an RBI single extending their lead 8-2.
Fort Worth put a rally together in the bottom of the seventh. The Cats scored three runs on three hits in the inning. Robert Roth came on in relief and inherited the bases loaded with the tying run on base but struck out Derek Marshall keeping the lead for Edinburg at 8-5.
The Roadrunners answered back in the top of the eighth against reliever Brandon Wilkerson. Molina led off the inning with a single and then after stealing second and third, he came in to score on a wild pitch. With two outs in the inning, Blue reached on a walk and Pino reached on a fielding error. Carlos Hereaud followed with a two-run double that pushed the lead to 11-5.
Paul Koss came on in the bottom of the ninth for a scoreless inning giving Edinburg the 11-5 victory.
The Roadrunners and Cats will shift the United League Championship series to Edinburg Baseball Stadium Sunday night for game three of the best-of-five series. Miguel Martinez (1-0) is expected to face Steve Barnes (1-0) with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
