Tucson Toros News Release

Long Beach, CA-The Tucson Toros began the second half of the GBL's split season with a 6-2 loss at the hands of the division rival Long Beach Armada Saturday.

The Toros got off to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning off of Armada starting pitcher Scott Lonergan. That was all the damage for Tucson however, as the squad was unable to score in the next 8 frames. Tucson mustered just 5 hits in the game.

Tucson starting Lorenzo Barcelo reached double digits in strikeouts with 10, but a fateful 5-run third inning proved to be the difference in the game. Barcelo took the loss to fall to an even 5-5 record this season.

Toby Nordman came on in relief of Barcelo and maintained his spotless 0.00 ERA with two scoreless innings while striking out three.

Leftfielder Lino Garcia had two of the team's five hits and added a run and an RBI. Second Baseman Skip Adams and Centerfielder Andre Marshall each had a double.

The Toros and Armada will wrap up their four game series on Sunday. A linked feed of the Long Beach broadcast will be available at www.tucsontoros.com.
