Tucson Still in Search of First Road Win

St. George, UT - The Tucson Toros were defeated by the Roadrunners in Utah 12-7 Friday night to extended the club's early season road struggles. Fresh off a 3-game sweep at home, Tucson's loss was their fourth in as many games on the road this season.

The Toros led 3-0 just three batters into the game after a pair of walks and a 3-run home run by Leftfielder Lino Garcia. The squad was outslugged by the Roadrunners from there on however, with the St. George offense going for 12 hits and 6 walks.

Tucson starting pitcher James Garcia struggled in the outing, lasting only 4 innings with 8 runs allowed. Garcia took the loss to fall to 0-2 on the season.

In addition to his longball, Lino Garcia added three more hits to finish a perfect 4-for-4 to raise his batting average to .407. Garcia has 8 hits in his last 3 games and has now hit in 8 straight games. His teammate Rightfielder Victor Ferrante, who had his 11-game hitting streak snapped Thursday, had a pair of hits to extend his on-base streak of reaching via a hit or walk to 13 games.

Centerfielder Josh Womack joined his fellow outfielders with a productive night at the plate by launching his second home run of the season. Garcia and Womack became the first Toro hitters to reach the 2-homer mark and are tied for the team lead.

The Toros and Roadrunners will wrap up the series with a scheduled double header in St. George on Saturday beginning at 4:00 p.m. (Tucson time). Tucson's next homestand will begin with a Fireworks Friday on June 11th.
