Walla Walla Sweets News Release
WALLA WALLA, Wash. - College baseball is under way in much of the country, and the Walla Walla Sweets are putting the final touches on the roster for the 2014 season. Today the team announced that Jordan Frabasillo, Kyle Nixon, and Parker Osborn will head to Walla Walla for the upcoming season of West Coast League baseball.
Jordan Frabasilio, a 6-foot 3-inch, 190-pound junior at University of Pittsburg is a native of Chandler, Arizona, and a graduate of Hamilton High School. Frabasilio, the right-handed hitting third baseman, attended South Mountain Community College before transferring to Pittsburg. As a freshman at South Mountain, he hit seven doubles, four triples, and one home run, knocking in 29 RBI. In 2012, Frabasilio hit .450 when playing in the Arizona Collegiate Wood Bat League.
"Jordan transferred to Pitt after two really good years at South Mountain where he really matured," said Sweets manager J.C. Biagi. "He's a big guy and he is mobile with a little pop from the right side."
Nixon, a native of Bakersfield, California is a graduate of Frontier High School. The 6-foot, 2-inch, 200-pound outfielder is a sophomore at Bakersfield College and has committed to play at the University of San Francisco next season. Last season as a freshman at Bakersfield, he hit .371 with 21 RBI and was named to the Southern California All American team.
"Kyle will be finishing his sophomore year at Bakersfield College before heading north to join the University of San Francisco," added Biagi. "I could see this guy playing a big role for us this summer. He's got good size, is developing power, and can just flat hit."
Osborn, a 6-foot 1-inch, 200-pound junior at Southern Illinois University is a native of Chandler Arizona, and along with Frabasilio is a graduate of Hamilton High School. Last summer, Osborn played in the Prospect League for the Slippery Rock Sliders where he hit .345 with five doubles and eight stolen bases. Osborn attended Chandler-Gilbert Community College during his sophomore season where he hit .337 with five doubles, five triples, 12 stolen bases, and 24 RBI.
"Parker is a really tough kid that likes to compete," Biagi stated. "He covers some ground in the outfield and has had a lot of success at the plate the last two years. Southern Illinois will likely use him in the top to middle of their line-up every day."
