MILWAUKEE (April 25, 2008) -- A season Keith Tozer called one of his most enjoyable culminated on Friday with the 2007-08 Major Indoor Soccer League Coach of the Year award, his seventh in 24 seasons on the bench.

Seven new players - three Brazilians, a Dutch goalkeeper, a Canadian and two Americans - provided Tozer's biggest challenge to extending the Wave's postseason streak to 15 years. Another hurdle was the absence of all-star target forward Todd Dusosky, who missed the entire season with an ankle injury. Yet the veteran coach medled the team

Deco, a 19-year-old Brazilian rookie, got the season off right with an overtime game-winner in the home opener, and the Wave continued to grow throughout the season. Milwaukee fashioned a 3-2 record during a three-week, 8,500-mile road trip in January, then took advantage of a favorable schedule over the rest of the season by winning 11 of its last 13 games to finish with a 22-8 mark, tied for best in the league with Detroit.

"I've been here for 16 years, and it's an honor and a privilege. I'm very lucky to coach the Milwaukee Wave," Tozer said. "I love this team, this organization and this sport."

Tozer's overall Wave record is 387-212 (.646), and he also is 38-28 (.575) in the playoffs. He previously won Coach of the Year in 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2003 in Milwaukee; his first came in 1986 in the original MISL with the Los Angeles Lazers.
