
Towering Lineman Gabourel Debuts Tonight

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning of the arenafootball2 league have been assigned DL Bryan Gabourel (GAIB-ree-el) by the af2 League Office. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Gabourel will wear jersey #90 and is expected to make his professional debut tonight (7:05 p.m.) for the Lightning, who host the Boise Burn from Stockton Arena in the Lightning's 2008 home opener.
Gabourel, 23, split his college career between the University of Central Florida (NCAA), the City College of San Francisco and The College of Marin. The 6-foot-3, 326-pound lineman appeared in 18 games for UCF in 2005 and 2006 while tallying a career-high 14 tackles (10 solo) and two tackles for loss as a 2005 junior.
As a sophomore, the Oakland, Calif. native recorded eight sacks and 50 total tackles as a sophomore for San Francisco.
Additionally, the Lightning placed DB Diamond Francies on injured reserve, activated DB Tyler Bruhn off team suspension and placed OL/DL Mason Mitchell on re-assignment.
The Lightning return to play the regular season home opener for a week 3 matchup against the Boise Burn, starting at 7:00 p.m. from Stockton Arena. The game be heard and viewed, free-of-charge, online through www.stocktonlightning.com (courtesy of NifTy Online TV).
