
Tovar & Davis Lead Yard Goats to 6th Win in a Row

Portland, Maine- Ezequiel Tovar cracked an RBI double in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie, and helped the Yard Goats defeat the Portland Sea Dogs 5-3 on Thursday night at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. Noah Davis worked five innings and had eight strikeouts to earn his fifth win. The victory improved the first-place Yard Goats to a franchise best 35-19 record, and Hartford has won a season-high six consecutive games.
The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game as Isaac Collins hit the first pitch over the left field fence off Sea Dogs starter Jay Groome. The Sea Dogs took a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the third inning. Tyler Dearden had an RBI single and Pedro Castellanos had a run-scoring single, giving Portland a 3-1 lead.
Hartford scored three times in the sixth inning to take the lead off reliever Jacob Wallace. Kyle Datres walked, Willie MacIver singled and Nick Decolani walked, loading the bases. Tyler Hill followed with a bases loaded walk to make it a 3-2 game. Collins fielder's choice grounder scored MacIver and tied the game at 3-3. Tovar then smashed a double off the left field fence to give Hartford a 4-3 lead. Tovar added to the lead with an RBI single in the eighth inning.
The Yard Goats and Sea Dogs will play the fourth of a six-game series on Friday night (6:00 PM) at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. RHP Karl Kauffmann will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Victor Santos will start for the Sea Dogs. The broadcast can be heard on AM 1410 WPOP and FM 100.9 and on the iheart radio app. The Yard Goats return to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Tuesday, June 14th against the Akron RubberDucks.
