
Torrington Titans Hire New Field Manager

The Torrington Titans, of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, are excited to introduce former minor league catcher, Mikaela (Misha) Dworken, as their new Field Manager for the 2012 Titans campaign. Misha takes over for Gregg Hunt, after 17 years on the job for the both Torrington Twisters (NECBL) and the Titans. Misha will be introduced, at the Titans team store (35 Water St. downtown Torrington) at a press conference on Friday January 13th at noon.
Misha currently served as the head JV coach and assistant Varsity Coach for Sarasota (FL) Sailors High School baseball program. SHS is a national high school baseball power. Perennially a Top 5 program, SHS has produced 1st round talent such as Casey Kelly (San Diego Padres), Bobby Seay (Detroit Tigers/Tampa Bay Rays), and Ian Desmond (Washington Nationals) among many others.
He also currently serves as a manager/lead instructor at the Extra Innings Baseball Facility in Sarasota, working with some of the best young professional and collegiate talent in Florida's Southwest Coast.
Misha helped guide the Sarasota Sailors win the 1996 Florida High School State Championship. After High School, Misha twice received All-American honors; first as a 2nd team NAIA All-American (1998) and 1st team NAIA All-American (2000). He was also given the prestigious honor of Junior College Southeast player of the year at Brewton-Parker College (Ga).
In 2001, He signed a free agent contract with the Houston Astros and went on to play 2002 through 2008 at a myriad of stops including (New Jersey Jackals, St. Paul Saints, Atlantic City Surf, and New Haven Ravens). Misha earned a nod as an All-Star of the Northeast League in 2002.
The Torrington Titans are a summer, wood bat, collegiate baseball team, operated by Carminucci Sports Group. The Titans play in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League Of New England. The Titans strive to provide its fans, sponsors, and partners with the very best in competitive baseball and affordable entertainment in a family-friendly atmosphere to the Northwest Connecticut Region. The team is comprised of amateur, college baseball players from across New England, and country showcasing their talents in front of Major League Scouts.
