Torres Breaks Tie in 7th; Claws Win 2-0 on Saturday

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Nicolas Torres broke a scoreless tie with a two-run triple in the seventh inning and the BlueClaws topped Wilmington 2-0 on Saturday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

Jersey Shore (44-69) has taken three of the first five games from Wilmington (57-55) with the series wrapping up on Sunday.

Scoreless into the seventh, the BlueClaws broke through on a two-run triple from Torres, scoring Rixon Wingrove and Anthony Quirion to break the tie. AJ Candelario (0-1) allowed the two runs to score and took the loss.

Andrew Baker (3-1) earned the win with two perfect innings in relief. Cristian Hernandez pitched a scoreless eighth and Jonathan Hughes earned his eighth save with a scoreless ninth.

Ethan Wilson kept the game scoreless in the first inning, throwing out Jeremy De La Rosa who was trying to score from second on a two-out single to right field by Onix Vega.

Jersey Shore starter Josh Hendrickson threw five scoreless innings with five strikeouts on a minor league rehab assignment. Andrew Baker followed, striking out three over two perfect innings of relief.

Meanwhile, the BlueClaws didn't get their first base runner until Marcus Lee Sang walked in the fourth inning. Mitchell Parker, Wilmington's starter, threw six scoreless innings but didn't factor in the decision.

The teams finish their six game series on Sunday at 1:05 pm. RHP Dominic Pipkin starts for Jersey Shore.
