Tucson, AZ - The Golden Baseball League has announced their 2009 All-Star selections and five Tucson Toros have been selected to participate in the prestigious contest that will be held at Bruce Hurst Field in St. George, Utah on Tuesday, July 14th at 7:00 p.m. Toros honorees include Pitchers Lorenzo Barcelo and Dan Knox, Second Baseman Skip Adams, Leftfielder Lino Garcia and Designated Hitter Jim Rushford. The game will also feature a Fan Fest with an autograph session at 5:00 p.m. and a Home Run Derby at 6:00 p.m. In addition to the All-Star nod, Adams has also been chosen to represent the South Division in the Home Run Derby.
"This game should be a very good showcase for the top players in the league," said GBL Commissioner Kevin Outcalt. "We have already sold 11 player contracts to major league teams this year, and the talented players continue to select the GBL. This will be a fun game for the fans as they watch major leaguers Jose Lima, Jim Rushford, Emiliano Fruto, Eude Brito, Bartolome Fortunato, Jason Pearson, and Lorenzo Barcelo mixed in with younger players just beginning to make a name for themselves."
