TUCSON, AZ - The Tucson Toros, (7-3) swept their way past the Calgary Vipers, (11-7) with a 7-6, walk off victory, Thursday night.
Junior Spivey led the late game heroics as he opened up the bottom of the ninth with a single to left. Dustin Yount then reached on a fielder's choice which was followed up a Lino Garcia single, that plated Spivey.
Toros' catcher, Dylan Parzyk, led the home side's offense as he went a perfect 4-4 at the dish. Parzyk hit three singles, a double, scored two runs and drove in one RBI.
Jim Rushford and Junior Spivey were the other Toros with multi-hit efforts as they both went 2-4. Spivey also scored one run while Rushford drove in one RBI.
Skip Adams showed some pop as he hit his team leading ninth homerun, which was a two run blast to left center, in the sixth inning.
Dan Knox got the start for the Toros but he left the game in the fourth, with an apparent injury. Brian Daly, Jordan Muir and Reid Price combined to finish the game out of the pen, with Price, (4-1) picking up the win.
The Toros will now hit the road for their next seven games as they open up a three game series in Edmonton tomorrow afternoon, which will be followed by a four game series at Calgary, starting on Tuesday, August 4th.
