The Tucson Toros battled for a 10-8 win over the St. George RoadRunners Monday night. The Toros have now won three of their last four games against the RoadRunners.
The contest was a back and forth affair, St. George opening the scoring with two 1st inning runs off Toros starter John Bannister. Tucson answered in the top of the 2nd inning with a run to trail 2-1. The RoadRunners extended the lead in the 3rd inning with two additional runs to go up 4-1.
Tucson tied the game at 4-4 in the fourth with three runs, including a solo home run by Francisco Placensia, his second of the year. St. George came back with a run in the bottom of the 4th inning and another in the 5th on a home run of their own by Yosvany Almario to move ahead 6-4.
The Toros broke the game open however, with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning and four more in the top of the 7th inning to take a 10-6 lead. The RoadRunners continued to fight back late in the game by adding a run in the bottom of the 8th inning and another run in the bottom of the 9th inning, but it was not enough as the Toros held on to win 10-8.

Santana last failed to hit his way onto base on July 8. Catcher Luis Apodoca had a strong offensive night going 4-for-4 with 2 runs scored.
