June 13, 2009 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Tucson Toros News Release

The Tucson Toros fell 9-8 at the hands of the St. George Roadrunners in the team's first road game of the season. Tucson got off to an early lead, plating a pair in the top of the first inning and four more in the second behind newcomer Cibney Bello, a righthanded starting pitcher who was added to the roster earlier in the day. St. George answered back with six unanswered runs to chase Bello after five innings.

The bullpens battled to hold down two of the leagues best offenses. Tucson went ahead 8-7 in the top of the 8th, but allowed the tying and go ahead runs in the bottom of the frame to seal the defeat.

Toros Second baseman Skip Adams was 2-for-4 hit his team leading 4th home run of the season and extended his hitting streak to 14 straight games. Leftfielder Lino Garcia went 2-for-4 as well, with his team leading 11th double of the season in just 53 at bats. Adams and Garcia were among six Tucson hitters with a multi-hit night, part of a 14 hit barrage.

The Toros and Roadrunners will square off for game two of the three game series in St George tomorrow at 2:05 p.m. (Tucson time).
