The Toronto Rock announced today that they have signed a number of key players to their roster for 2005. 13 players in all have signed 1 year contracts for the upcoming season including Blaine Manning, Bob Watson, and Josh Sanderson.

He led the League in Power Play Goals in 2004 with 19 PPG during the regular season. Manning, 2002 Rookie of the Year, earned Weekly Honours in 2004 as Offensive and Overall Player of the Week for week 4.

Other offensive players that have signed contracts for the 2005 season include Matt Shearer, Chris Driscoll, Aaron Wilson, Rusty Kruger and Josh Sanderson**. All five veteran players finished with at least 20 points in the regular season in 2004, three of which finished with more than 20 goals. Rock newcomer Josh Sanderson, who played with the San Jose Stealth, was ranked 1st overall in League assists (61) last season and lead Stealth scoring with 89 points on 28 goals and 61 assists.

Bob Watson has played in goal for the Toronto Rock since the team's inception in 1999. Watson played in 11 games last season, recording 5 wins and 5 losses. He ranked 4th overall in League Goals Against Average (11.14) and 6th overall for Save Percentage (.755%).

Other defensive players that have signed on the 2005 season include Glenn Clark, Derek Suddons, Dan Ladouceur, Patrick Merrill, Ian Rubel and Phil Sanderson. Each of these players brings a proven level of defense to the field that will be tough to beat this year. Up and comers like Patrick Merrill and Ian Rubel will surely lead the way for a new corps of defenseman coming into their own in 2005.

"All of these players all have something unique to bring to the floor for the Toronto Rock. I firmly believe that these signings are key to making this another extremely successful season for this team." Terry Sanderson; Toronto Rock Head Coach and GM.
