Toronto Drops Texas 3-2 in a Shootout

The Toronto Marlies defeated the Texas Stars, AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars, by a score of 3-2 in a shootout tonight at Ricoh Coliseum.

Justin Dowling gave the Stars a 1-0 lead at 2:21 of the opening frame. Jamie Devane's first goal of the season evened the game at one just past the midway point of the opening period. Maxime Fortunus restored Texas' lead on a powerplay with under one minute remaining in the frame. Korbinian Holzer's first goal of the year tied the contest at two at 13:48 of the second period. After a scoreless third period and overtime, Sam Carrick notched the game winning goal in the 10th round of the shootout.

The Marlies will return to the ice on Tuesday night when they host the Charlotte Checkers, AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes, at 7 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the team's ticket line at 416-597-PUCK (7825).
