Wenatchee Wild News Release

FRISCO, Texas - The Texas Tornado defeated the Wenatchee Wild 2-1 Friday night at the Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas. The Tornado halted the Wild's 4-game winning streak and, in the process, extended its NAHL-best winning streak to nine games.

The game was scoreless through most of the first period before Tornado forward Jack Prince notched an unassisted goal with 2:34 remaining before the first intermission when his shot hit a defender and went into the Wild net.

After killing a penalty early in the second period, the Wild evened the score, 1-1, on a power play of its own at the 5:25 mark. Chris Rumble (Chesapeake, Va.) started the play with a shot from the far point that was tipped into the net by Eliot Grauer (Mukioteo, Wash.). Carl-Johan Sjogren (Sodertalje, Sweden) earned the second assist. The goal was Grauer's team-leading eighth of the season, and it extended his points streak to five games. By recorded the second assist, Sjogren also extended his points streak to five games.

Texas earned the game-winning goal on a bang-bang play 54 seconds prior to the midpoint of the third period when Marc Biggs' shot beat Wild netminder Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, Minn.). Alec Thieda and Axel Boyer assisted.

Jaeger, who fell to 8-2 on the season, made 30 saves on 32 shots. Tornado goaltender Jimmy Kruger made 15 saves on 16 shots to remain undefeated on the season at 7-0.

Wenatchee went 1-for-4 on power-play chances and did not allow a power-play goal to Texas on six chances.

The Wild (10-4) will try to split its series against the Tornado (11-2-4) tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. (PST).
