Tormenta FC to celebrate the community and raise money for local Safe Haven

STATESBORO, Ga. - Looking to close out August with two much-needed wins, South Georgia Tormenta FC returns to Erk Russell Park for consecutive home matches on Saturday, Aug. 21 and Saturday Aug. 28. Tormenta FC will host New England Revolution II on Aug. 21 for the Back to School Bash and Fort Lauderdale CF on Aug. 28 for Community Appreciation Night.

Students can kick off the school year at Tormenta FC's Back to School Bash with free general admission to the match and food, drinks and outdoor games. The club's official healthcare provider, Optim Sports Medicine, will also be in attendance to answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and schedule vaccine appointments.

The following Saturday, Tormenta FC will host Community Appreciation Night, featuring Statesboro's Dancing with the Stars and benefitting Safe Haven, a local organization supporting those affected by domestic violence. A portion of ticket proceeds from the match will be donated to Safe Haven in Statesboro, Ga.

Sitting fifth in the 2021 USL League One standings with a 7-10-2 (W-L-D) record, these are two must-win matches for Tormenta FC as it fights for a playoff spot. The team will look to use its home field advantage to conclude the month with six more points.
