Toninato Signs with Florida Panthers

FARGO, ND - Former Fargo Force forward, Dominic Toninato, has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Florida Panthers.
Toninato was acquired by the Panthers via a trade with the Colorado Avalanche in June before signing the one-year contract.
With the Avalanche he appeared in 39 career NHL games in two seasons, while splitting time with their AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage (AHL affiliate from 2015-18) and the Colorado Eagles (current AHL affiliate). Last season with the Eagles he appeared in 57 games notching 29 points (14g, 15a). He was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fifth round (126th overall) of the 2012 NHL entry draft.
The Duluth, MN native spent his collegiate career in his hometown at the University of Minnesota-Duluth for four seasons (2013-17). In his time there, he skated in 151 games totaling 91 points (54g, 27a) while accumulating 175 penalty minutes. In his senior season, he captained the Bulldogs to an appearance in the NCAA Division I championship final, where they fell to the University of Denver 2-3.
Toninato appeared in games with the Force over the course of two seasons. In 2011-12, he spent most of his time playing for Duluth East High School as captain before appearing in four latter-season games with the Force recording one goal. In his second season with the Force, Toninato tied for the lead in scoring on the team with 70 points (29g, 41a) and helped the team to the Clark Cup Final where they lost to the Dubuque Fighting Saints.
