FOREST CITY - Due to inclement weather, Tuesday's game against the Gastonia Grizzlies was postponed. The Owls will take on the Grizzlies today at 12:00 P.M in Gastonia and then in a double header this coming Thursday, June 26th. The Main Gate will open at 5:00pm and the first game will begin at 6:00pm. Come join us for our Man Vs. Food Night and Bud Light Thirsty Thursday with $1.00 select drafts all night long.ÃÂ
The Owls will continue the 2014 season at home Thursday night as they take on Gastonia at 6:00 in a doubleheader. Fans can purchase season tickets, ý season plans and 5-game Fireworks plans by calling the Owls office at 828-245-0000. Key dates for the 2014 season include: Fireworks Games on Saturday July 5th and Saturday August 2nd. Single game tickets are on sale now. The Owls will also take on the Chinese Taipei National team on July 7th.
The Coastal Plain League is the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 18th season in 2014, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. The CPL has had over 1,100 alumni drafted and 65 of those - including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander - make their Major League debut; while another notable alum - Russell Wilson - won Super Bowl XLVIII.
