Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Indianapolis Indians in the third game of a four-game series at Victory Field (2:00 p.m.). The series is even at a game apiece following the Herd's 3-1 win last night. Buffalo is 4-2 so far on their eight-game roadtrip that ends tomorrow night (3-1 vs. Louisville). On the mound today for the Bisons is RHP Jeff Harris. The veteran righty allowed just one run on five hits in six innings in a no-decision on Friday in Louisville (3-0 Bisons win). Indianapolis will counter with RHP Bryan Bullington.
STARTING STRONG: The Bisons starting rotation has had a dominating week. Herd starters have made seven consecutive quality starts and are 3-0 with a 1.54ERA since June 17. An even more impressive stat is the rotation has walked just three batters and struck out 31 in their last 46.2 innings of work. Today's starter, RHP Jeff Harris, had one of those quality starts. He allowed just one run on five hits in six innings to Louisville last Friday. He struck out four and walked none in a no-decision.
MORE PITCHING: The Bisons pitching staff hasn't allowed more than three runs in seven consecutive games. The team's 1.66ERA over the last seven games has helped lower their season ERA to 3.89 - the 4th lowest mark in the International League. Since an 8-1 win over Durham on June 17, Bisons pitchers have 52 strikeouts to only 47 hits allowed in 59.2 innings of work.
HAIL A CABBY: INF Asdrubal Cabrera collected his third consecutive three-hit game last night going 3-4 with a run scored. Cabrera hasn't slowed down one bit since being optioned to the team on June 11, hitting .456 (26-57) with three doubles, a home run and five RBI. He has 10 multi-hit performances in 14 games and has scored a run in five straight.
BISONS' BITS: RHP Jeff Stevens converted his fifth save last night in five opportunities. He has struck out 20 and allowed just 5 hits in his first 12.0 innings with the Bisons...INF Jordan Brown collected his 19th double last night. The total is T7th-most in the International League...OF Jason Tyner is 11 for his last 23 at the plate, good for a .478 batting average. He's also scored six runs in his last seven games.
