FORT MILL, S.C. - June 25, 2008 - For five innings, a pitching duel ensued between the Tides and Knights-then the wheels fell for Charlotte. Norfolk scored three runs in the top of the 6th and added three more in the 8th, to end an 8-game losing streak to Charlotte with a 6-1 win. In the top of the 6th with Tides 3B Mike McCoy on first, Norfolk's Chris Roberson hit a two-run shot giving the Tides a 2-0 lead. Norfolk would add another run on a throwing error to make it 3-0. An RBI single by Charlotte's Danny Richar, scored Chris Getz in the bottom of the 6th to help the Knights avoid the shutout. The Tides would add three more runs in the top of the 8th, including an Eider Torres solo home run, cushioning Norfolk's lead by five. Norfolk starter Andy Mitchell (7-4, 4.59) picked up his seventh win of the year. Wes Whisler (8-5, 3.09) took the loss for the Knights. The series concludes on Thursday, as Charlie Haeger (5-6, 4.32) will start for the Knights. Chris Walters (0-5, 7.02) will take the mound for Norfolk. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
