WELCOME! The Jackalopes, in first place in the Southwest Division by 13 points, are visiting Laredo for the first time. The Jacks defeated the Bucks 3-1 in Odessa on December 14. After last night's 5-1 loss in Corpus Christi, Odessa comes in having lost two in a row (in regulation) for the first time in the last two seasons. Ex-Buck Jaroslav Jabrocky led the Rayz' attack with two goals and an assist. The Bucks have won five of their last six, including last night's 4-1 win against Lubbock.
CONGRATULATIONS! Bucks Eric Schneider and Michel Periard and Jackalope defenseman Scott Hillman are slated to be teammates on the 2003 Southern Conference All-Star Team at the CHL Dodge All-Star Game in Oklahoma City on Thursday, January 23. Schneider was the leading vote-getter among all CHL players.

ALAMO CITY UPDATE: The Bucks' American Hockey League affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, next plays Sunday at home against the Manitoba Moose. Bucks All-Star Michel Periard has an assist, an even plus/minus and one shot on goal in one game with San Antonio. Former Bucks star Dave Gove has two goals, nine assists, 14 penalty minutes and an even plus/minus in 28 games with the Rampage. San Antonio is 13-15-5-2, in fourth place in the AHL West.
BENCH BOSSES: The Jackalopes are on course for their third division title in three years under the leadership of Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Don McKee. McKee was WPHL Coach of the Year his first year and CHL Coach of the Year last year. Laredo Head Coach/General Manager Terry Ruskowski has Bucks battling for a playoff position in the team's inaugural season. Ruskowski was named UHL Coach of the Year with Knoxville in 2000-2001.

PROUD PAPA: Congratulations to new parents Joey Sewell and Meredith Hamilton. Mikayla Rose Sewell is the latest addition to the Bucks family. Mikayla Rose was born at Doctors Hospital on 10:15am on Wednesday, January 1, 2003, just two days after Papa Joey was named CHL Player of the Week. Mikayla Rose weighed in at nine pounds, four ounces. Joey celebrated with two goals and #1 Star honors in last night's 4-1 win vs. Lubbock. Congratulations, Joey & Meredith!
