Tomahawks Split Series with Knights
October 19, 2019 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Johnstown Tomahawks News Release
PITTSTON, Penn. - The Johnstown Tomahawks looked to split the weekend series with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights and gain ground in the NAHL East Division on Saturday.
With 12 seconds left in the 2nd period, Tomahawks forward Tristan Poissant broke the scoreless tie. As we've seen numerous times this young season, the Tomahawks offense came to life in the 3rd period, scoring three times with goals from Chris Trouba, Spencer DenBeste, and Malik Alishlalov.
Of the four goals, two came on special teams with Poissant and Alishlalov scoring on the power play.
The Johnstown defense limited WBS to 22 shots on goal, and goaltender Alex Tracy denied them all. This marks the rookie net minder's first shutout victory. Tracy's performance in net this season now accounts for 9 of the Tomahawks 16 points, with a record of 4-1-1.
The Knights remain 2nd place in the East Division, with the Tomahawks a mere one point behind. Johnstown will return home on October 25th to face the Northeast Generals for a three game series, giving them a prime opportunity to gain ground on the Knights and division leading New Jersey Titans.
