
Tomahawks Score Four in Third, Defeat Eagles 5-3

Johnstown Tomahawks News Release
The Johnstown Tomahawks outscored the Michigan Warriors 4-1 in the third period, earning the 5-3 win on Friday night at Pullar Stadium in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. Dakoda Menslage had a pair of goals in the win, while Ryan Bednard earned his second-straight win.
Mitch Vanderburg opened the scoring for the Eagles 8:01 into the first period. Keegan Miller and Nick Belger were credited with the assist for the Eagles on Vanderburg's third goal of the season.
Luke Lynch tied the game at 13:59 of the period with his fourth goal of the season. Lynch has now scored in two consecutive games. Andrew Romano had the assist on the goal.
Belger regained the lead for the Eagles with 1:44 remaining. Brad Pung and Sandis Zolmanis earned assists on the goal.
Early in the third period, the Tomahawks went on the power-play after Alex Jaeckle was tripped up in the Johnstown end of the ice. Dakoda Menslage took advantage of the man advantage, tying the game at 3:03. Zach Zech got the assist on the goal.
The Tomahawks took their first lead of the game, as Ryan Bochert scored his first goal of the season at 14:30. Josh Bowes and Collin Montgomery earned the assists on the goal.
Just six seconds later, Pung tied the game back up for the Eagles, with Michael Caruso and Chase Matson getting the assists.
Joe Drabin regained the lead for the Tomahawks with a shot from the left side of Jack Berry with 2:48 remaining in the third period.
Dakoda Menslage set the final score with an empty net goal shot from his own zone at 19:45.
Bednard earned the win, stopping 20 of 23 shots. Jack Berry took the loss, allowing four goals on 39 shots. The Tomahawks went 1-for-4 on the power-play, while killing all four of their penalties.
