
Tomahawks Defeat Warriors 4-3 in Shootout

Flint, Mich. - The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Michigan Warriors 4-3 in the shootout on Saturday night at Perani Arena in Flint Mich. Johnstown got shootout goals from Omar Mullan, Shane Bednard, and Zach Wallace in the shootout.
The Tomahawks have won five of their last six games, and are 7-2-1 in their last ten games. They currently sit three points behind division-leading Port Huron, while holding a three-point lead over third place Michigan.
The Warriors got on the board first as Zack Szajner scored a power-play goal at 16:39 of the third period. The Tomahawks tied the game 30 seconds into the second period, as Matt Meier's shot from above the left faceoff circle got past goaltender Trevor Gorsuch. The Tomahawks took a 2-1 lead into the third period, thanks to Alex Jaeckle's power-play goal from inside the left faceoff circle at 17:47.
Michigan's John Farkas tied the game early in the third period, scoring at 1:59. Johnstown's Ryan McNeely regained the lead with 5:39 remaining in the third period. The goal was McNeely's first as a Tomahawk. With 1:23 remaining in the third period, Michigan tied the game as Connor Lyons scored off the face-off. The game went to overtime and eventually a shootout, where the Tomahawks outscored the Warriors 3-1.
Alex Okicki earned the win, stopping 33 of 36 shots in regulation and three of four in the shootout. Trevor Gorsuch took the loss, allowing three goals on 24 shots in regulation and three goals on five shots in the shootout.
The Tomahawks are off next weekend, before welcoming the Soo Eagles for a weekend series Oct. 24-26 at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena. Thursday and Saturday's games begin at 7 p.m., and Friday's game begins at 7:30 p.m.
