Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA, FL -- Tampa Bay Storm wide receiver/defensive back TT Toliver was named the U.S. Army Ironman of the Month for the month of April, it was announced by the league office.

Toliver, who has been a vital cog in the Storm's current three-game winning streak, averaged over 200 all-purpose yards per game during the four games in April, amassing 801 all-purpose yards and scoring seven touchdowns. He made significant contributions in all phases of the game, including offense, defense, and special teams.

Toliver caught 19 passes in April for 267 yards and four touchdowns. He also returned 20 kickoffs for 499 yards and three touchdowns and had one field goal return for 32 yards. Defensively, Toliver totaled 14.0 tackles to go along with two forced fumbles and an interception.

Playing in his third AFL season but just his first full season, Toliver had several impressive feats during April. He played every play of the Storm's April 11 game at Chicago after the Storm suffered a rash of injuries in the contest. He also notched back-to-back 100-yard receiving games (April 4 vs San Jose, April 11 at Chicago) for the first time in his career. On April 18 vs Austin, Toliver returned a pair of kickoffs for touchdowns, marking the second time in his career he accomplished that feat. And on April 25 at Columbus, Toliver returned another kickoff for a touchdown, giving him three kickoff returns for touchdowns in two games. Toliver was named the AFL's Ironman of the Week for his Week 11 performance against the Austin Wranglers.

And though the calendar may have changed to May, Toliver continued the dominating performances he routinely turned in throughout the month of April in the Storm's May 2 game at Orlando. Toliver collected 154 all-purpose yards against the Predators. And for the third straight week Toliver returned a kickoff for a touchdown, this time scoring on a spectacular 57-yard return that saw him break numerous tackles and dance his way through Predators defenders who thought they had him pinned down at the goal line. Toliver collected 116 yards on five kickoff returns and also added a pair of touchdown receptions in the game.

Along with Toliver, other players receiving recognition by the AFL were San Jose quarterback Mark Grieb, New Orleans defensive specialist Monty Montgomery, Chicago wide receiver/linebacker Etu Molden, and Orlando kicker Jay Taylor. Grieb was named the Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Month, while Montgomery earned ADT Defensive Player of the Month honors. Molden was named the Rookie of the Month and Taylor was named Kicker of the Month.
