
Toledo's Lerg Named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Jeff Lerg of the Toledo?Walleye is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Dec. 14-20. It is the second time in his career that he has received the weekly honor.
The 29-year-old went 4-0-0 with one shutout, a 1.71 goals-against average and a save percentage of .939 in four appearances last week.
Lerg made 29 saves in a 5-1 win against Indy on?Wednesday, turned aside 31 shots in a 4-3 shootout win at Brampton on?Thursday, stopped all 15 shots he faced in a 2-0 victory over Manchester on Saturday and had 33 saves in a 4-3 win at Indy on Sunday.
A? native of Livonia, Mich., Lerg is tied for second in the ECHL with 11 wins, is sixth with a .926 save percentage and is tied for ninth with a 2.07 goals-against average. He has also appeared in one game with San Diego of the American Hockey League stopping all 11 shots he faced.
Lerg has appeared in 90 career ECHL games with?Toledo and Trenton posting an overall record of 57-25-6 with five shutouts, a 2.61 goals-against average and a save percentage of .913. Last season, he was named to the All-ECHL?Second Team after finishing second in the league with 32 wins, fourth with a 2.37 goals-against average and tied for fourth with a .920 save percentage.
During his junior career, he was named the USA?Hockey Junior Player of the Year in 2004-05 after leading the United States Hockey League with a 2.16 goals-against average in 52 games with Omaha. He also enjoyed a four-year career at Michigan?State University from 2005-09, and helped to lead the Spartans to the 2007 National?Championship.
