Walleye Notes
- Collecting the Wins! Toledo is currently on its longest winning streak this season as they have collected six straight wins. During the streak Toledo has out-scored the opposition 28-10 for an average of 4.66 goals per game while allowing just 1.66 goals per contest. The last time a Toledo team won this many consecutive games was seven from January 19th to February 2nd 2007. The longest overall winning streak by an ECHL Toledo team is 10 done by three teams; the last was from January 21st to February 18th 1996.
- We will take 5 while you get the 2! Perhaps the rarest of all stats occurred for the Walleye this week as they won all three games by identical 5-2 scores. This is the first time in team history that this has occurred.
- Scoring for Wins! Toledo is a perfect 10-0-0-0 when scoring five or more goals this season. The Walleye scored five goals in all three games this past week.
- Defense First! During the current six game winning streak Toledo has allowed just two power play goals as they have stopped 23 of the last 25 power plays against (92.0%).The team has stopped 19 consecutive chances and has not allowed a power play goal since December 12th against Elmira (4 games).
- Tanguay Tops Out! Forward Maxime Tanguay finished out the weekend in style scoring two goals while collecting four assists. That gives Maxime the team lead for points with 30 (11g, 19a).
- Ewing on a Run! Forward Bryan Ewing is currently on a six game point streak in which he has collected 2 goals and 6 assists.
- Fan-tastic! For the season 107,138 fans have passed through the turnstiles at the new Lucas County Arena for an average of 5,639. Toledo is the first team in the ECHL this season to eclipse 100,000 in total attendance and is still the only team to do so.
On the Hook
- Gametime! Following the holiday break, Toledo will get back to action Saturday night in Cincinnati. Toledo is 3-2-0-0 against the Cyclones this season including a 5-2 win last Tuesday night in Cincinnati. Sunday evening features a return to the Lucas County Arena for the Walleye as they host the Johnstown Chiefs. Toledo has beaten the Chiefs in both prior meetings this season. That is another "Kids Day" with the Walleye, featuring a post-game skate with Walleye players!
Walleye Player of the Week: Maxime Tanguay (2 goal - 4 assists 6 points)
Tanguay did all his point collecting in two games vs. Johnstown.
Walleye Goaltender of the Week: Alec Richards (2-0-0, 2.00 gaa,.944 save %)
Alec has won three consecutive starts.
