Saugerties, N.Y.-Joe Venturino was cold coming off the bench, but Venturino warmed up quickly as Venturino stroked a key pinch-hit triple in the nine to lead the Saugerties Stallions (6-11) to a 2-1 win over the Glens Falls Dragons (6-10) on Saturday at Cantine Memorial Veterans Field.
With the Saugerties Stallions trailing by one in the ninth inning, Venturino came to the plate and tripled.
A walk-off by Eric Downey gave the Saugerties Stallions the win.
Downey paced the Saugerties Stallions at the plate. Downey went 3-5 and drove in one. He singled in the first and eighth innings.
Matt Wojciak recorded his first win of the year for the Saugerties Stallions. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Cameron Churchill was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
