Titans Rookie Mitch Belisle Earns Transition Player Of The Week

March 26, 2008 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Orlando Titans News Release

New York, NY - The New York Titans' rookie defenseman Mitch Belisle earned NLL Transition Player of the Week for his performance in the Titans' 20-13 rout of the Philadelphia Wings at Sovereign Bank Arena on Saturday, March 22.

Usually a stay-at-home defenseman, Belisle was able to score two fast breaks goals in the game against the Wings, the first two goals of his NLL career. He also tallied one assist and scooped up nine loose balls.

A 2007 Cornell grad and winner of the Schmeisser Cup in 2007, which honors the collegiate national defenseman of the year, Belisle was selected 13th over-all by the Titans in the 2007 NLL draft.

Belisle has played in seven games and has collected a total of 21 loose balls this season. He is quickly becoming one of the best young defenders in the league.

The 6-5 Titans have won five of their last six games and are currently in fifth place in the East, one half game out of the play-offs.

The Titans will continue their hunt for a playoff spot on Saturday, April 5 when they take on the second place Minnesota Swarm at the Xcel Energy Center.
