Torrington Titans News Release
The Torrington Titans are excited to announce the newest addition to the team for the 2014 regular season. The Titans are proud to announce the signing of a new head coach, Dan McNamara.
McNamara comes to the Titans after playing at the professional level with various teams up and down the east coast. Dan is a native of Brewster, New York. He began his professional career at the age of twenty-five, signing a contract with the Texarkana Gunslingers of the Continental Baseball League. In 2010, McNamara was an assistant coach for the Mercy College Mavericks, helping lead the team to their first Conference playoff appearance in twenty years. Although McNamara was an infielder from youth through high school, in 2010 the Brockton Rox (formerly of the Can-Am League) named him assistant coach/catcher, where he helped lead the team to the playoffs.ÃâàMcNamara started the 2011 season in spring training as a catcher for the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League.ÃâàHe was ultimately sent back to the Rox to finish his season, where injury forced him to miss the majority of 2011.
In early 2012, McNamara briefly attended Major League spring training with the Washington Nationals in the Grapefruit League.ÃâàDuring the 2012-2013 seasons, McNamara played and coached for the Newark Bears of the Can-Am League, where he finished his playing career.ÃâàMcNamara has a Bachelor's of Science from Mercy College and currently resides in Mohegan Lake, NY with his wife, Christine.
