Torrington Titans News Release
TORRINGTON - The Titans are pleased to announce the hiring of a new head coach, following Kyle Decker's professional baseball opportunity overseas.
The Titans have come to terms with Dante Palazzo, of Clinton (Conn.), as their head man for the summer of 2016 and beyond. Palazzo has nearly 20 years of baseball coaching experience, last coaching at Eastern Connecticut State in the spring of 2014. "I'm excited to get the chance to work with collegiate players looking to play at the next level," said Palazzo of his new gig with the Titans. "We're excited to get out in the community and we look forward to being supported by Torrington."
Palazzo has recently been instrumental in helping high school athletes in gaining college scholarships and extending their baseball careers, most recently working with The Grind AAU baseball program. His other collegiate coaching stops have included Albertus Magnus College, Southern Connecticut State, Bridgeport and Pace University. He also has experience in collegiate summer baseball, coaching the Petersburg (Va.) Generals of the prestigious Coastal Plains League, where he helped lead his team to a runner-up finish.
Kyle Decker was a valuable member of the Torrington Titans, where he played for the team for three years as an infielder before becoming an assistant and later the head coach of the team during the 2015 season. Decker will continue his baseball career with the Louvain-la-Neuve (LLN) Phoenix in Belgium this summer.
President and General Manager Chris Myslow is happy with the move, both for Kyle and for his baseball team. "Though this was an unexpected development, we are pleased that such a qualified candidate like Dante Palazzo was available to lead our team to future success," said Myslow.
The Titans will open their 2016 season at home on June 1 against the Pittsfield Suns at 7:00 PM at Fuessenich Park.
