READING, PA (April 23, 2005) - The Trenton Titans came out victorious in a defensive battle against Reading Royals with a 2-1 win in front of 4,953 at the Sovereign Center
It didn't take long for the Titans to break the scoreless tie as B.J. Abel beat Reading goaltender Barry Brust to the far post with a wraparound shot at 1:31 into the first period.
The Royals finally broke through Trenton's defense on the front end of a double minor assessed to Rosario Ruggeri. Beau Geisler's slapshot from the point deflected off a body and into the net for power play goal that tied the score at 13:44 of the second period.
Rick Kowalsky would answer on the man-advantage for Trenton with his third goal of the postseason to make it 2-1 with 1:08 remaining in the middle stanza.
Andrew Allen made sure his team's lead help up with 12 saves in the third period and 30 for the game. Barry Brust stopped 25 of 27 shots as the Reading fell for the first time in four games.
Trenton went 1-for-6 on the power play and 6-for-7 on the penalty kill.
