Torrington Titans News Release

The Torrington Titans are thrilled to announce an exciting project, in cooperation with the Torrington Park and Recreation Department. After over 100 years of baseball at Fuessenich Park the Titans will spend the 2014 season commemorating the parks history with the start of the Fuessenich Park Hall of Fame.

General Manager of the Titans Joey Abis stated that the idea came to him through the residents of Torrington that he has met, "It seems as if everyone I have spoken with knows someone or knows of someone that has played baseball in this park."

In the year 1919 Frederick Fuessenich gave the land, where the park currently resides, to the town of Torrington. He stated that it was to be used as the, "Amusement and recreation park and as playgrounds for the use and enjoyment of the men, women, and children of said Town of Torrington."

Fuessenich Park has now brought enjoyment to the Town of Torrington in various forms for close to 100 years. This year the Torrington Titans plan to pay tribute to the park's history with the start of the Fuessenich Park Hall of Fame.

During the 2014 season, which kicks off on June 4th, the Titans plan to dedicate every Wednesday towards the history of the park. "Way Back Wednesday" will feature Half-Price Hot Dogs as well as one Hall of Fame induction for each of the five Wednesday games this season.

The Titans currently need your help! With five Wednesday games this season they are looking to induct five candidates to the Hall of Fame in its first year! If you know of someone who you think is a qualified nominee please send their name to Titans General Manager Joey Abis at, joey.abis@gmail.com, along with reasoning for why they should be inducted.

The Torrington Titans provide student-athletes from New England and New England colleges the opportunity to compete and play with the elite players from across the country and to promote them to MLB organizations. The Titans provide a family friendly, affordable, and fun experience for the communities that we play in. The FCBL currently has tenmember franchises: the Brockton Rox, Nashua Silver Knights, Martha's Vineyard Sharks, North Shore Navigators, Seacoast Mavericks, Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide, Pittsfield Suns, Torrington Titans and the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs, and the Worcester Bravehearts.
