Outfielder Joshua Mears (MLB.com's No. 8 Padres prospect) transferred from Arizona Complex League to High-A Fort Wayne (uniform: No. 41)

LAST GAME: The TinCaps defeated the Dayton Dragons, 8-0, to win the rubber match of the three-game series. Noel Vela pitched seven scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts. Lucas Dunn had three doubles in the game and Corey Rosier collected three RBIs, two from a 9th inning home run.

TRANSACTION: The San Diego Padres announced on July 24 that outfielder Joshua Mears is returning to Fort Wayne after a 17-game stint in the Arizona Complex League. Mears batted .268 with 10 XBH and a .935 OPS in Arizona. Now, he returns to the TinCaps where he hit eight home runs in 31 games. Mears was previously named the Midwest League Player of the Week on April 25 for a five-homer series in Lansing.

BACK IN TOWN: Fort Wayne and Peoria are playing for the first time since 2019 when the TinCaps won a series at home, 2-1. Fort Wayne hasn't been to Dozer Park since 2018. In that series, MacKenzie Gore posted a five-inning, 10-strikeout game.

ROBERT HASSELL: Ranks 2nd in the MWL in batting average (.308), 5th in OPS (.862) and hits (85), 7th in OBP (.387), 8th in RBIs (50) and total bases (131), and 10th in stolen bases (19)... 9th lowest swing and miss % (9%).

COREY ROSIER: Leads the MWL in runs (66), while ranking 2nd in triples (7), 4th in stolen bases (29), 5th walks (53; 15%), and 8th in OBP (.377)... He's swung and missed at only 8% of pitches seen, the 5th lowest rate in the league... 3rd in BB/K (0.9).

JARRYD DALE: Ranks 4th in the MWL in games (86) and 6th in walks (49).

CAUGHT 'EM: TinCaps catchers rank 2nd in the MWL in throwing runners out trying to steal (32 CS). Individually, Brandon Valenzuela leads the league with 21, while Anthony Vilar has nabbed 9, and Adam Kerner has caught 2.

PATIENT: The TinCaps lead the MWL in walks drawn (4.6 per game), while having struck out the 2nd fewest times (8.7 per game).

MISCELLANEOUS: The TinCaps are 30-14 when scoring first (68% win rate) and 8-38 when they don't (17%)... Fort Wayne is 11-11 in 1-run games, 5-12 in 2-run games, and 1-3 in extra-innings.
