Lansing Lugnuts News Release

The Lansing Lugnuts announced the following roster changes, in conjunction with the Oakland Athletics:

- Pitchers Calvin Coker and Kyle Virbitsky received from Single-A Stockton

- Pitcher Stevie Emanuels transferred to Single-A Stockton

The relief ace of the Auburn Tigers, Coker was drafted by the A's in the 15th round in 2018, receiving a cameo stop in Triple-A Nashville in his professional debut before spending the majority of 2019 in the Midwest League with Beloit. After missing all of 2021 due to injury, the 26-year-old Coker has been excellent in his return to action, recording a 1.76 ERA in 11 appearances for the Ports with 16 strikeouts and two walks in 15 1/3 innings.

The 6-foot-7 Virbitsky, 23, made his professional debut with the Lugnuts in 2021 after the A's selected him in the 17th round in 2021 from Penn State. In 16 games, 15 starts, with Stockton, Virbitsky struck out 99 batters compared to 20 walks in 86 2/3 innings. He has been at his best in July, posting a 1.57 ERA in four starts, with 30 strikeouts and four walks in 23 innings.

The Lansing Lugnuts (10-14, 35-55) open a six-game series tonight at the Great Lakes Loons, returning home from August 2-7 for a six-game set against the West Michigan Whitecaps. For more information, call (517) 485-4500 or visit lansinglugnuts.com.
