Erie Otters News Release

After splitting Games 1 and 2, the Otters headed to London for Game 3 looking to get at least one win away from the Erie Insurance Arena. Troy Timpano stopped 33 of the 34 shots he faced in the game en route to a 3-1 Otters victory.

Following the trend of the first games of the series, both teams played a fast, physical game early in the first period, with the Otters putting more shots on goal. It was the Knights, however, who got on the board first when Janne Kuokkanen's rising shot deflected off an Otters' defender and past Erie goaltender Troy Timpano. It was the only goal through the first twenty minutes of play. In the closing minutes of the period, both goaltenders made their cases for the save of the playoffs: London goalie Tyler Parsons managed to slide from one side of the crease to the other to deny Alex DeBrincat with the left pad; and, directly after, Timpano-appearing down and out-stretched his arm out to stop Mitchell Stephens with the glove.

The Otters, needing an appropriate response after surrendering the first goal of the game, came out for the second period with something to prove. After Timpano made a tremendous stop, blockering the puck to Anthony Cirelli, Cirelli stormed back the other way and wristed the puck through Parsons to tie the game at one. Then, just minutes later, DeBrincat banked a shot off London's Olli Juolevi, and the puck dribbled past Parsons to give the Otters a 2-1 lead heading into the third period.

DeBrincat scored his second of the game, sending a shot just over a sprawling Parsons, early in the third period to make the score 3-1 in Erie's favor. The Otters shifted to a defensive, shutdown style of play for the remainder of the third period, which worked in their favor. The Knights were unable to get any momentum heading into the final minutes of the period, and the Otters won Game 3 in London 3-1.

Alex DeBrincat scored twice for the Otters, Dylan Strome notched two assists, and Anthony Cirelli scored a goal while putting four shots on net. Troy Timpano made 33 saves on 34 shots in the win. Timpano also assisted on Cirelli's goal.

Janne Kuokkanen scored the Knights' only goal, and Tyler Parsons stopped 33 of the 36 shots he faced in the loss.

The Otters took a 2-1 series lead on the Knights; they'll face the Knights in London for Game 4 on Thursday, April 13.
