Milwaukee Wave News Release
MILWAUKEE (Nov. 24, 2008) - The Milwaukee Wave and Time Warner Cable today announce a multi-year partnership putting the iconic Road Runner logo on the front of the Wave jersey for the 2008-09 season and beyond.
Time Warner Cable also is the player sponsor of Wave midfielder Marcio Leite. A second-team all-league player last season, Leite starred last spring in a television commercial for Time Warner Cable's Road Runner High-Speed Online Service.
"The marriage of Road Runner's unmistakable logo and the Wave's elegant shield has created a winning identity for both organizations over the last two seasons," said Matt Schroeder, vice president of communications for the Milwaukee Wave. "Extending this partnership through our Silver Anniversary and beyond further cements this relationship, and we couldn't be more excited."
"We very pleased to renew our sponsorship agreement with the Milwaukee Wave and to announce our new sponsorship of Marcio Leite. This partnership is a perfect fit for Time Warner Cable and our goal of commitment to the community. We wish the Milwaukee Wave great success this season," said David Sengkhammee, director of marketing for Time Warner Cable Wisconsin.
The Milwaukee Wave open their Silver Anniversary season at 6 p.m. Dec. 13 with a home game against the Detroit Ignition. The inaugural season of the Xtreme Soccer League features Milwaukee, Detroit, the Chicago Storm and New Jersey Ironmen playing a 20-game schedule from mid-December through April.
